This fantasy Netflix movie tells the story of Princess Elodie (Millie Bobby Brown) and her fight for survival against a bloodthirsty dragon after being betrayed by the royal family of another kingdom.

I thought this movie was really creative as a modern adventure based on classic fairytales. The core of the film was its transformative feminist story and the importance of female empowerment. Despite being a princess, Elodie was initially sheltered and doubted her personal capabilities. But through this most challenging period of her life, she finally realized her inner strength. It was an entertaining watch, seeing a story of self-discovery set in a medieval fantasy environment.

There were some characters included who I thought were inconsequential and weren't really necessary because they didn't add anything to the plot. Aside from that, I didn't have a significant problem with anything else. The cinematography and costume design were impactful in creating amazing worldbuilding. The feminist elements were significant but not too overpowering; they never felt awkward or cringey.

It was great to watch a resourceful heroine who challenged the traditional damsel in distress stereotypes. She confronted her adversaries, saved herself, and ensured the prosperity of her family and her kingdom. Just an average Monday, I guess. It was an innovative plot to attract a new generation of women's rights advocates. Despite taking place during an era where gender equity didn't exist, this story of a competent woman doesn't seem so outlandish for the time. I recommend this movie for anyone wanting an engaging action movie that centers on internal power.
